Professor Priya Kurian, University of Waikato, was our guest speaker on the topic of
sustainable citizenship in action across three core elements of the earth – air, water, and land. Professor Kurian spoke about how resistance movements, not necessarily aligned with any specific organization or interest group, are seeking to change the status quo of a world increasingly defined by exploitation, overconsumption, sectarianism, and neo-liberalism. Her focus was mainly on climate change but also land and water rights. Priya’s strong message is that our hope is in working together.
The topic is more fully discussed in her latest co-authored book: Public Relations and Sustainable Citizenship
