Collectively, we read the following books:
Tahmima Anam
A Golden Age (2007)
The Good Muslim (2011)
The Bones of Grace (2016)
Thrity Umrigar
Bombay Time (2001)
The Space Between Us (2006)
The Weight of Heaven (2009)
The World We Found (2012)
The Story Hour (2014)
Everybody’s Son (2017)
The Secrets Between Us (2018)
Honor (2022)
We discussed many similar themes from both of these multicultural writers – both of whom were born in India and Bangladesh, educated in the USA and the UK, where they both live nowadays. There are many multicultural themes in their books, as well as themes of racial relationships, foster parents, racism, misogyny, and the ‘stretching the credibility’ in the Indian stories. We all enjoyed the books of these two authors.
