But wait, there is more Expressway

Progress is being made on the securing the route for the extension of the Waikato Expressway south to Piarere. The extension is 16km of four-lane highway to meet with the planned new SH1/29 roundabout. Getting the designation and obtaining legal requirements like consents means the project will be ready to go when funding is available. But it’s unlikely the Waikato Expressway will be extended south before 2027, and the opposition transport spokesman suggests the wait could be even longer.
